KLC Law Firm and the annulment of Panepistimiou street redevelopment

Pursuant to decision 2152/2015 of the Plenary Session of the Council of State, the environmental permit regarding the redevelopment of Panepistimiou Street was annulled. The applicants’ lawyer was, along with Associate Professor Gina Giannakourou, Associate Professor Vassilis Voutsakis, partner of KLC Law Firm. The unanimous decision of the Supreme Court adopted the arguments of the applicants and considered, on one hand, that redevelopment of Panepistimiou Street was not a simple project but rather, an intervention of wider significance, which required a strategic environmental impact assessment study, and, on the other hand, that its planning was incompatible with the applicable urban planning legislation (Strategic Plan for Athens, General Urban Plan of Athens).
