KLC Bulgaria: Participation in "Bulgaria's Green Energy Challenge" IENE Event, in Sofia, Bulgaria

Mr. George Ftikas, Senior Associate of KLC Law Firm Branch Bulgaria, has participated as a Panelist in the workshop "Bulgaria`s Green Energy Challenge", which organised by the Institute of Energy for South East Europe (“IENE”), and took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on Wednesday, October 10th, 2012. In particular, Mr. George Ftikas has participated in the Panel Discussion of Session II: “Can RES growth be sustained under the new legal framework?”, mentioning that the uncertainty which was created to the investors by the recent developments, do not facilitate in any way the development of new renewable energy projects. The event attracted various stakeholders from the Renewables market in Bulgaria, like Government Officials, Wind and PV Associations, developers, investors, media and professionals offering services in the sector. The event focused on analysis of recent drastic changes in legislation and FiTs in Bulgaria, especially the last retroactive change in FiT for projects with supposedly “fixed FiT”, which created havoc in the market and introduced uncertainty for all participants. Speakers and panelists, discussed how the RES market could survive such a shock, and under which conditions, this regulatory environment could sustain attraction of foreign investments.
