“Third Party Funding in International Arbitration”: KLC Law Firm’s participation at GIAC “Arbitration Days” conference in Tbilisi, Georgia
Mr. Fotis Karayannopoulos Senior Associate of KLC Law Firm and Mr. Tasos Kollas, Associate of KLC Law Firm participated at GIAC Arbitration Days, a leading arbitration conference successfully organised by the Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC). The Conference was held on 1 - 3 December 2016 in Tbilisi, Georgia, at Holiday Inn hotel and was the third Annual International Arbitration Conference of GIAC dedicated to Efficiency in International Dispute Resolution.
Associate of KLC Law Firm Mr. Tasos Kollas joined the panel of December 3, 2016 addressing the topic “Third Party Funding in Perspective: Efficiency or Uncertainty” and delivered his speech about the Party’s Perspective of Third Party Funding in International Arbitration. Mr. Kollas mainly analysed the reasons of why parties turn to third party funding and offered insights on the benefits and risks for the arbitrating parties dealing with third party funding issues. The panel’s presentations on this hot debated matter of the international arbitration community was followed by a lively and interactive Q&A session.
The conference comprised a series of lectures and arbitration & dispute resolution related events, including ICDR Young & International and ICC YAF Events. There was a large attendance by partners and associate lawyers of leading international law firms, experienced arbitrators, experts, academics and high-level representatives of international arbitral institutions, reflecting on the high level and prestige of the conference.
